Brown's Guides and Search Engine Optimization Brown's Guides began a focused program of search engine optimization (SEO) in January. Currently, Internet users searching for Georgia Restaurants, Georgia Lodging Accommodations, Georgia Tours and Georgia Family Vacations, find Brown's Guides on page one or two of Google and the six other major search engines - a remarkable achievement in less than three months. And as a result of an aggressive SEO program, those positions are improving weekly. Try it for yourself. There are over 500 key words and phrases that if typed into Google or other major search engines give the searcher Brown's Guides on page one. In the coming months, we will add other key word phrases to the four above, including Georgia Outdoors and Georgia Art Galleries. Over the course of 2009, "derivative search" and "organic search" will result in searchers finding Brown's Guides on page one of major search engines when they search for Atlanta Restaurants, Savannah Restaurants, Georgia Coastal Restaurants, and other restaurants in specific cities and regions. The same "derivative search" and "organic search" results will apply to every key word phrase we choose to "optimize."

Traffic to the site is increasing at the rate of between 50 and 100 percent per month. Bounce rate, a key indicator of the true helpfulness of a website, is declining - the lower the bounce-rate, the better - and we understand how to continue that trend. Total page visits, probably a better indicator of the effectiveness of the website than unique visitors, is averaging four per visitor and increasing.

We have a set of analytical and reporting tools, second to none, that allows us to stay on top of traffic trends and make adjustments to the site that have a direct impact on visitation.

What our experience to date has demonstrated is that Brown's Guides' page ranking on Google and the other major search engines will continue to improve and that website visitation will continue to increase weekly.

Brown's Guides Reaches a National Market While Brown's Guides is a "Guide to Georgia" it receives traffic from a national travel market coming to Georgia for pleasure and business. The top three states for website visitors after Georgia are Florida, New York and California. Traffic is heavy from the surrounding states of South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama, in addition to Florida.
