Description:
Located in northeast Georgia with one shore in Georgia and the other in South Carolina, Hartwell Lake is one of 10 US Army Corps of Engineer-owned lakes in the state. The 56,000-acre lake has 962 miles of shoreline. Lake Hartwell, along with Lakes Russell and Thurmond to the south, form a more-or-less continuous water recreation corridor over 100 miles long. In the Savannah River watershed, it is impounded by Hartwell Dam.
