Description:
Located in northeast and east central Georgia on the Georgia-South Carolina border, Richard B. Russell Lake is one of 10 US Army Corps of Engineer-owned lakes in the state. The 26,659-acre lake has 540 miles of shoreline and 26,500 acres of public land surrounding it. Lake Russell along with Lake Hartwell to the north and Lake Thurmond to the south, form a more-or-less continuous water recreation corridor over 100 miles long. In the Savannah River watershed, it is formed by the Savannah and Richard B. Russell Dam.
