What Others Are Saying About Express Cafe and Bakery

  • Ranked #11 out of 379 restaurants in Savannah by Trip Advisor.
  • Went to the Express Cafe & Bakery for a quick lunch. Was crowded but we were waited on quickly. We did have to wait for a while to get our meals but it was worth it. The sandwiches were great. The bread and veggies were fresh. Free refills on soda and coffee. laldesigner, Chicago, in Trip Advisor 8/09
  • We had lunch here during our visit to Savannah, and the deli sandwiches were average, but plentiful. I had the cup of sweet potato soup — very thick and not really hot, but tasty. My husband had the fruit cup — again, average. The real star here, though, is the bread pudding. That’s probably the reason I’m giving it four stars! This is truly excellent and enough to share — warmed with whipped cream is the way to go. Kathryn H., Fairfax, Virginia, in yelp! 8/09

  • If you are looking for Southern cooking, done with some imagination and careful preparation, go to South City Kitchen - the Midtown location. This is a very amiable place, with gracious, helpful service. The food is quite good, as are the mixed drinks. I ate there twice on a four-day business trip, so you get the idea. steve48, Hollywood Hills, California in Trip Advisor 7/09
  • I recommend the fried chicken, the catfish and the fried green tomatoes. The food is always consistently good. O.V. Brantley in Urban Spoon 11/08

What Others Say About Vic’s On The River

  • Rated # 27 out of 379 restaurants in Savannah by Trip Advisor
  • I was surprised that the food was as good as it was since it is a “location” restaurant. The shrimp gumbo was excellent though the fried shrimp was a bit over cooked. I wish there was a “Good” rating. Vt1st, Burlington, Vermont in Trip Advisor 8/09.
  • The atmosphere was pleasant on the sunny day we ventured in. I love the hardwood floors and tall ceilings which cast a sunny outlook on the lunch we had. Although the restaurant was very busy the service was great. We never had to ask for more to drink, extra bread, etc. My husband even commented on how quickly we got our food. We ordered, and then it was there! Emily M., Virginia Beach, Virginia, in yelp! 4/09

What Canyon Grill Is Saying About Itself…
canyongrillrgb400.jpgWe are not about exotic ingredients and creative fusion. What we do is buy great products, give them a lot of care, and do our best not to mess them up in preparation. Canyon Grill’s location is remote - so remote that most guests drive at least a half-hour along a scenic road on the back side of Lookout Mountain.

What Others Are Saying About Canyon Grill

  • Rated #1 out of 5 restaurants in Rising Fawn by Trip Advisor
  • We spent the weekend in a cabin in Mentone, AL. and found the Canyon Grill. It was a great experience and the food was outstanding. The wife got a steak and I got the pork tenderloin. Both were outstanding. I cannot express how good the food was and for a restaurant that is out in the middle of nowhere it was packed with customers. craigboggan, Birmingham in Trip Advisor, 8/09
  • Canyon Grill is my favorite place to eat in or around Chattanooga.  It’s a bit of a hike up Lookout Mountain, but it’s worth it.  Most of the food is grilled, including a lot of the vegetables and side dishes.  I have an ongoing obsession with the grilled okra.  The slash and burn catfish is great.  The filets are pretty phenomenal and be sure to save room for dessert.  I highly recommend a slice of coconut cake.  You’ll also need to bring your own wine–Canyon Grill is in a dry county. What Others Say About Chart House...

  • Several people told me to visit the Chart House when I went to Savannah. We sat on the balcony and enjoyed the views of the river. The waitress was friendly and very attentive. Different staff checked with us throughout the meal to see if we needed anything. Everything we got was really good. The crab stuffed mushrooms were great. Also, the peach martini was a wonderful way to start the evening. I would definitely go back. h2ocalla, Cary, NC in Trip Advisor 6/09
  • Founded in 1961 in Colorado, Chart House now has more than 25 U.S. locations. The restaurants, many of which occupy historic buildings, draw on the local region’s natural features, making each one unique. Atlanta’s Livingston Restaurant

What Livingston Says About Itself…
livingstonrgb490.jpgLivingston Restaurant and Bar, in Midtown Atlanta, inhabits one of the city’s few historic buildings. Inspired by the architecture’s good bones, we’ve made an inviting modern space without obscuring its original glamour. Midtown has always been the part of town where Atlanta revels-and Livingston carries on the tradition. It’s a place where Atlantans come to be social, to eat and drink and celebrate.

Our executive chef, Gary Mennie, offers up the liveliest local flavors in Georgia with bold American cooking that’s savory, sexy and innovative. Classically trained and mentored by culinary masters on both coasts, Chef Gary knows the rules and knows how to break them. He favors local and organic and may wax poetic about a native vegetable, but he insists on flavor and ingenuity. “You pay homage to a local turnip only when the taste is made exciting.”

What Others Are Saying About Livingston

  • Likewise, Livingston is an Atlanta-specific restaurant. The space is outrageously beautiful, taking the room’s vintage architectural bones - the columns, the wrought iron, the sweeping staircases - and updating them with modern touches such as plush velvet banquettes in the bar area, and floating gauze around the heavy central chandelier. Reviewed in Creative Loafing by Besha Rodell 6/09
  • Mennie (Executive Chef Gary Mennie) continues his longtime style of riffs on American classics, using locally sourced ingredients whenever possible but always playing with flavors, frequently mixing ingredients from land and sea. Cliff Bostock in Creative Loafing’s Omnivore Atlanta blog 5/09
  • Though I sampled executive chef Gary Mennie’s food when he was at Taurus, Livingston is a fresh start. In true Atlanta fashion, Mennie’s menu is a contemporary twist on Southern food with a nod to several other culinary styles, most notably: French. Foodie Buddha 5/09

What Others Say About Fincher’s...

  • I love this place. The people are so friendly, and they will talk to you as if they knew you for a long time. This is a great place! Mobile review by Sawyer in Urban Spoon 2/09
  • Do try the barbecue and ribs! Favorite choices are the plates of barbecue, ribs and chicken. Additional locations in town include some that are just carryout. Recommended by Southern Living’s “10 Best.”
  • Average BBQ and below average Brunswick stew in my opinion. You better check your order close because they get it wrong a lot. I do eat there from time to time because it is close, but it is not my favorite. I would rather eat at Georgia Bob’s BBQ!!! KeKeM in Yahoo Local! 3/08

What Cakes & Ale Says About Itself…
cakesalergb364.jpgCakes & Ale means “the good things in life. “We hope to offer our little piece of this to you, our neighbors. Cakes & Ale is owned and operated by residents of Decatur. Our food is made from scratch every day, and we cook with seasoned vegetables from local sources; artisan-produced, freshly milled grains; and humanely raised meats and non-endangered fish species. These aren’t just good practices, they taste better and are more nourishing. We have respect for the products we use and where they come from. We hope you will come in and enjoy the experience.

What Others Are Saying about Cakes & Ale

  • Named one of the “Top 10 Best New Restaurants” in America by Bon Appetit Magazine in its 16th Annual Restaurant issue.  Bon Appetite Magazine September Issue.
  • My husband and I eat here frequently and have never had anything less than a gorgeous meal with exemplary service. The seasonally driven menu changes frequently but the always available Arancini never disappoint. Roasted meats are always cooked to perfection. Vegetables are fresh and well seasoned. Seafood is always fresh and delicate, never overdone or overpowered. Save room for dessert - trust me!  Stacy in Urban Spoon, 6/09
  • The appetizers are fine and the desserts were a bit of a disappointment. I mention this because you should not fill up or save room for dessert. EAT EVERY BITE OF YOUR ENTREE. Fabulous. I had the chicken on white beans. I really wasn’t expecting much - white beans? Oh my, was I in for a surprise. Delicious. MaxGA in Trip Advisor, 2/09

What Others Say About Bedlord’s

  • Dinner is fine, nothing special, but the white chocolate cheesecake is amazing. Mobile review by Traveler in Urban Spoon, 7/09
  • Rated #95 out of 376 Savannah restaurants by Trip Advisor.
  • We found ourselves in City Market at the end of breakfast service. I had the quiche of the day and my husband had the omelet of the day. The quiche was a little cold, but I had a taste of the omelet and it was hot and had lots of flavor. A little disappointed with the grits, but overall, a great breakfast. We got to enjoy sitting outside on their patio and do some people watching before we continued with our day. h2ocalla from Cary, NC in Trip Advisor 7/09

Colonnade

What The Colonnade Says About Itself…
colonnadergb300.jpgAs one of Atlanta’s finest restaurants, The Colonnade offers exceptional service, southern fried chicken, fresh fish, and fresh country vegetables. Our family owned and operated restaurant is dedicated to quality and friendly dining. We feature our own homemade dressings, sauces, pies and everybody’s favorite homemade yeast rolls. Our generous portions of chicken, steaks, seafood and pork aim to please any discerning palate. Our creative and talented chef continues to offer innovative and unique nightly specials while maintaining outstanding quality.

What Others Are Saying about The Colonnade

  • Named one of the “Top Ten Must-Visit Classic Restaurants” in America by Bon Appetit Magazine in its August Issue with this comment “A 1927 landmark for no-fuss southern cooking. The eclectic crowd - from grandmas to hipsters - fills up on sweet tea, fresh-baked rolls, and more than two dozen sides. Bon Appetit Magazine 8/09
  • Since 1927 The Colonnade has been an Atlanta dining landmark, attracting not only a raft of regulars but also restaurateurs on leave from their own establishments. A mixed crowd of everyone from grannies to gourmets gathers for strong drinks and some of the region’s best fried chicken and yeast rolls, the latter a rapidly disappearing Southern treat. The low-slung, no-frills building has been expanded in bits and pieces, but the atmosphere is really provided by the veteran waitresses and quirky crowd. Besides the fried chicken, come for the salmon patties, the trout, the bone-in ham steak, the oyster stew, and the pies, especially the coconut cream. On Sunday, come whenever the spirit moves you after noon, as service is all day. Review in Gayot
  • Enjoyed it. Not too many convenient places in Atlanta that serve legitimate Southern food done right. Menu has pretty much every type of Southern entrée you can think of…and most every vegetable. I’ll definitely be back, but be sure to take cash/check or a debit card to withdraw money…no credit cards allowed. Atlanta Foodies Blog 5/07
