What Il Pasticcio Says About Itself…
ilpasticioedit.jpgSituated on a busy corner in the heart of Savannah’s downtown shopping district, Il Pasticcio Restaurant and Wine Bar has been wowing locals and travelers alike for over a decade. A regular favorite among local readers’ polls, Il Pasticcio received national attention after it was named one of the country’s ten best Italian restaurants by USA Today. Additionally, Southern Living magazine calls the restaurant “one of the South’s best food finds.” It should also be noted that Il Pasticcio makes a regular annual appearance in Wine Spectator magazine for its 300 + bottle list. We offer numerous selections from Italy and California, but also from South America, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. Our “wines by the glass” list is one of the largest in Savannah.

What Others Are Saying About Savannah’s Il Pasticcio

  • Aside from being my best dining experience in Savannah, going to Il Pasticcio may have been my best dining experience ever. We were a larger group and it was a very busy night, but our service was still exceptional. Our waiter was knowledgeable, helpful, and made us feel like valued customers. Dizzy Design in TripAdviser 6/2009
  • My husband and I ate here on a Thursday night and were very impressed. The gnocchi was out of this world and the scallops were perfectly prepared. We sat at the bar and had excellent and very personable service. Gillescf in SuperPages 6/2009
  • We had an excellent meal at Il Pasticcio last night. The service was great, ambiance pleasant, and the food was well prepared. kwibblesny in UrbanSpoon 6/2000.

What Macon’s Nu-Way Weiners Says About Itself…
nu-way-big.jpgWho knew back in 1916, when James Mallis opened the first Nu-Way Weiner stand on Cotton Avenue in Macon, Georgia, that he had created a chili dog that would become an eating obsession? The original store with its neon sign is still in operation today, continuing to serve the same secret recipe chili sauce and private label weiners.

What Others Are Saying About Nu-Way Weiners

  • Simply the best chili-dog or slaw dog you will ever find! Ken Kitchens, 6/2009, SuperPages
  • I grew up in Atlanta where I have eaten at the Varsity many many times. But Nu-way has a better chili dog and fries. If you are ever driving thru Macon, stop by 430 Cotton Ave, you won’t be disappointed. MidnightNSavannah, 7/2009, TripAdviser
  • Really good hot dogs and hamburgers, maybe the best in town. A TripAdviser Contributor, 3/2008

What Bone’s Restaurant Says About Itself…
bones2.jpgBone’s opened its doors in 1979 with a mission to provide only the finest service, steaks and seafood. Since that time, we’re proud to have been recognized as the best steakhouse in Atlanta — and by many, as the best steakhouse in America. Prime beef, fresh seafood, and Maine lobster are served along with regional specialties from our Southern roots. Known for business lunches and business dinners, Bone’s provides private party rooms and personalized menus to accommodate fine dining experiences and special occasions. Bone’s has received the Best of Atlanta Steakhouse Award each year running for the past sixteen years. Recently, Zagat recognized Bone’s as having the highest rating for food and service of any steakhouse in America. We are proud of this rating, and we will do our best to uphold it.

What Others Are Saying About Atlanta’s Bone’s Restaurant

  • Great, classic American steaks. Wonderful atmosphere. Service, ambiance, food has not changed (a good thing) in the last 30 years. OpenTable member, 9/2009
  • Bone’s hasn’t changed in the 30 years it’s been open, and there’s good reason for that. Thing is, they’re doing everything right. Everything. Impeccable service from non-pompous waiters who can tell you everything you’d ever need to know about steak, wine, or just life in general. KathleenM, Yelp, 8/2009
  • We’ve dined here a few times and the food is consistently very good. Yeah, yeah the steaks are great, but the grit fritters… those things are delicious. My husband has taken business VIPs here and has been very happy with the service. The staff are wonderful, non intrusive, sometimes they even have a sense of humor. If we’re celebrating and in the mood for steak this is the place. MandyAtlanta, TripAdviser, 8/2009

What Australian Bakery Cafe Says About Itself…
austrialian2rgb400.jpgWe offer the largest selection of dinky-di authentic Aussie meat pies in the USA. In fact, we introduced the Australian Meat Pie to America 15 years ago, way back in 1994! How’s that for the real deal? Not only that, but ours are the best you can find this side of Sydney. Each one is hand made - pastry, fillings, toppings - and baked right in our ovens in Marietta, Georgia. Pick up a fresh one right out of the oven, or we’ll ship them to you anywhere in the United States. So come on in . . . .

What Others Are Saying About Australian Bakery Cafe

  • Needed a place one Sunday morning for a relaxed coffee and something warm out of the oven; the Australian Bakery Cafe offers both in a personable atmosphere. The coffee was good, the baked goods even better. The town square offers plenty of parking and interesting shops to see if you get too carried away and need to work off that last creme filling. The most friendly staff (the owner?) around. TripAdviser contributor 2/2005
  • I am from Australia now living in Indiana and I really missed food from Australia. My friend Lori told me about your site 18 months ago and I have been in heaven ever since. The meat pies are better than the ones I had been getting in Australia so thank you so much for making this Aussie feel like I am back home again. My husband fell in love with the meat pies while we were over there and now he brags to all his friends about this site and the great products we can get. I will be ordering again really soon. Have a great day and thank you. Kerrilynne McFadden 3/2009
  • The barbecued chicken turnover that I ordered was delicious, the staff friendly and interesting, and the atmosphere of sitting outside on the square very nice. There are also really interesting candies/chocolates/drinks from Europe and Australia for sale inside. A great place to stop and eat on the square. Gayot contributor 8/2008

About Georgia Restaurants… By MARK JOHNSON

Carrollton’s Plates on the Square restaurant has big ambitions (see post earlier today). It says it wants to mark.jpgprovide an “upscale dining experience” unlike any previously available in its northwest region of Georgia.

Now that’s a big territory: from Lookout Mountain, to Blue Ridge to Bremen.

Can they do it? What’s the competition?

Tell me what you think are the “upscale dining experiences” in Northwest Georgia and I’ll investigate.

Cobb County’s Restaurant Week

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

You may never have to eat at home again. Cobb County’s Restaurant Week starts September 19th. Special restaurants are featuring 3 course meals for $30, or lunch for $15. Does the price include tax, tip or alcohol? What do you think? These places are generous but not stupid. Cobb County’s Restaurant Week is a great way to check out the restaurants outside the Perimeter and to avoid having to reheat that spaghetti for the second time. Don’t forget reservations. Check with the individual restaurants for details.

Restaurants participating include both Aspens locations, Chicago’s, Chow-Baby, Figo, Henry’s Louisian Grill, Maggiano’s, Houlihan’s, various Ted’s Montana Grill locations, The Melting Pot, South City Kitchen, Vinyard Café, Taverna Florentina, and the Trackside Grill.
