Searching for Dahlonega Restaurants
Monday, November 30th, 2009By MARK JOHNSON, Restaurant Editor
This week I’m researching Dahlonega restaurants, using websites, reviews, opinions of friends and any other sources I can identify, to come up with Georgia’s most complete - and searchable - list of restaurants in the city where America’s first gold rush began.
Check the list of restaurants included so far and use the comments box below to let me know if one or more of your favorites are missing. I’ll include it on the list and give you a heads-up when it’s added.

Christopher DiNello is now the Executive Chef, and carries on the traditions of Chef Hilary Craig where “everything” is made on the premises, a rarity by all but the most discriminating establishments. We’re frequently asked, “Why did you choose to name your restaurant Alligator Soul?” The word “soul” is meant to represent your integrity and values. Who you are and what you personally stand for. The “alligator” is meant to represent your outward appearance. Integrity is what matters most to us, and people can clearly see that by what you put on the plate!!
Nestled in the five points of Crabapple’s Historic District lies the unique Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails. With its comfortable, quaint setting and talents of Chef Boyd Rose (pictured at right), Milton’s entices your senses with its inviting atmosphere and artful edge. Keeping with the rural character of North Fulton, the 150 year-old farmhouse and 1930’s cottage were preserved and restored with classic elements and charming details. Milton’s brings a distinctly unique dining experience to the suburbs of North Fulton. With an energetic bar, fireplaces to warm the soul, and intertwining outdoor deck and patio, the ambiance will bring your senses to life. The restaurant features contemporary New Southern Cuisine that utilizes fresh, local ingredients to create regionally inspired comfort food with bold flavors that are artistically presented in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Four generations of Sprayberrys have continued the Sprayberry’s tradition with almost 80 years of service to travelers, businessmen and women, and locals. Politicians from U.S. Presidents to Governors have campaigned at Sprayberry’s, and entertainers and athletes stop for barbecue when traveling nearby. “Regular” customers include sports fans making their way between Athens, Atlanta, and Auburn. Others visit as they travel to and from the beach. Holidays bring families who have made a meal at Sprayberry’s part of their family tradition.
Welcome to Daphne Lodge, a family business since 1952. Daphne’s first fame was at the turn of the century as a dance pavilion. This elegant open air structure was located just inside the confines of the present-day Veterans Memorial State Park. The railroad had a hand in setting up the pavilion and ran excursions out to it from Cordele. People would pack a picnic basket, dress up in their Sunday whites, and go to Daphne for the whole day. Daphne Lodge enjoys the fruit of many years of successful service. We’ve appeared in Southern Living as one of the top ten restaurants serving catfish and have been featured on the cover of their Sea and Stream cookbook.
