On the riverfront in Savannah, Chart House is located in one of the oldest masonry buildings in Georgia – built sometime before 1790. A historic environment always adds an extra pleasurable dimension to dining out.

Are there restaurants in historic locations in Georgia that are among your favorites? Brown’s Guides website visitors would like to hear about them.

Columbus’ Ruth Ann’s Restaurant has been pleasing customers since 1957. Breakfast is a favorite and lunch brings out the collard greens and cornbread dressing. We’re looking for other meat-and-threes in and around Columbus. Any favorites?

Headed for the Big Game in Athens? Did you know that you have a number of dining options on campus besides the cooler in the trunk or the bag from the local fast food restaurant? Check out http://www.gamedaygameplan.com/food_services.
Yes, there is still The Varsity. Yes, I will meet you there. Order me a chili dog, a Glorified, and a large Varsity Orange. Don\’t forget to bring my ticket.

Ouch! Another fine dining restaurantbites the dust. The Dining Room at the Ritz-Carlton in Buckhead (Atlanta) announced it is closing.
“Dining habits have changed over the years, and there are very significant costs to running this kind of restaurant,” said Sandra Ryder, area director of public relations for the local Ritz-Carlton properties. “We want to deliver experiences that our guests want. We want to pay tribute to a room with a twenty-five year history, but we also know that it’s time [to close it].”

    Ah me.
