Best Hot Dogs in Georgia
By BROWN’S GUIDES RESTAURANT EDITOR
We’re always on the lookout for Georgia’s best hotdogs, Nu-Way Wieners in Macon being one of our recent inclusions on the Top 10 list. And here’s another Georgia hot dog classic for that list.
Started out of a pushcart in Atlanta’s Woodruff Park n 1984, Barkers is now ensconced in a shopping center on Windy Hill Road. It doesn’t matter. Barker’s fans would still line up if Barkers moved to the moon.
Read more about Barkers in its suburban Windy Hill Road location.
And tell me about your favorite Georgia hot dogs. I’ll pass your recommendations along to other BG website visitors.

Best hot dog in Georgia? An infrequent hot dog eater, I’d probably have to say the hot dogs at the Varsity in Atlanta….

Dinglewood Pharmacy has been serving Scrambled Dogs for almost 100 years. It has been on Wynnton Road in Columbus since 1918. A Scrambled dog is a hot dog in a tray covered in fresh homemade chili, onions, pickles and oyster crackers. You can get it customized with two weenies, cheese etc. It is served by Lieutenant Stephens who has been making them for 63 years.
Other favorites are its hand made milkshakes and malted milkshakes. It is the last Pharmacy with lunch counter in Columbus. The walls are covered with pictures of lieutenant and many celebrities. It is often one of the first places vistors visit.
Lieutenant has shipped his famous chili to former residents of Columbus and as far away as to troops in Viet NamIt is a favorite lunch place in town with a bit of a wait if you get there at lunch.
