Macon, Georgia, Restaurants
Saturday, March 13th, 2010By BROWN’S GUIDES RESTAURANT EDITOR
This week I’m looking for Brown’s Guides readers’ picks of the best Macon, Georgia, restaurants.
Among the Macon restaurants included on the list so far:
- Marco
- Shelly’s Corner Café
- Satterfield’s
- Nu-Way Weiners
- Natalia’s
- downtown grill…
And 23 others.
Have a look at the complete list and let me know if any of your favorites are missing.
The restaurants you’ll find included so far are all independently owned, one-of-a-kinds, but if you have a chain that you think does a particularly good job, I’d like to hear about that also.
I’ll see that you recommendations are included in the Macon restaurants list and credit you with the suggestion.
Add your picks in the Comments box below or email me at info@brownsguides.com.

I’m looking for the top Georgia restaurants in Conyers and Rockdale County. Included so far: On Main Restaurant & Bar, Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, Mamie’s Biscuits, Club 908’s Little Brother, City Slicker’s and Chianti Italian Restaurant.
Come and relax with us in our circa 1870’s cafe and coffee house on the corner of Main and Jefferson Street in Historic Downtown Madison, Georgia. Enjoy a cup of coffee, a delicious pastry or a full breakfast or lunch in a warm comfortable “at home” setting. Sofas and armchairs form seating areas to sit and talk or use your laptop with free Wi-Fi throughout the cafe. This historic building has the original tin ceiling tiles, heart of pine floors and plantation milled brick that delight the traveler and our regulars alike.
This beautifully decorated and intimate restaurant is located at the corner of Second and Mulberry Streets in Historic Downtown Macon. Situated in a 150 year-old building, the owners have restored the original ceilings to highlight an atmosphere unlike any other in the area. Open since 1992, we have built our reputation and success by giving every customer excellent food and service either inside our beautiful bistro or at an off-site location of your choosing.
Who knew back in 1916, when James Mallis opened the first Nu-Way Weiner stand on Cotton Avenue in Macon, Georgia, that he had created a chili dog that would become an eating obsession? The original store with its neon sign is still in operation today, continuing to serve the same secret recipe chili sauce and private label weiners.
Located just minutes north of downtown Macon, families can enjoy delicious southern cuisine in a casual atmosphere. Reservations recommended.
