Searching for Savannah Restaurants
Monday, November 23rd, 2009By MARK JOHNSON, Restaurant Editor
This week I’m researching Savannah restaurants, using websites, reviews, opinions of friends and any other sources I can identify, to come up with Georgia’s most complete - and searchable - list of restaurants in Georgia’s most historic city.
Check the list of restaurants included so far and use the comments box below to let me know if one or more of your favorites are missing. I’ll include it on the list and give you a heads-up when it’s added.

This beautifully decorated and intimate restaurant is located at the corner of Second and Mulberry Streets in Historic Downtown Macon. Situated in a 150 year-old building, the owners have restored the original ceilings to highlight an atmosphere unlike any other in the area. Open since 1992, we have built our reputation and success by giving every customer excellent food and service either inside our beautiful bistro or at an off-site location of your choosing.
Experience Pampas and enjoy a steakhouse like no other. We feature authentic Argentine cuisine and utilize the traditional Argentine method of grilling à la parrilla over oak wood and a bank of hot coals. Pampas specialties include empanadas, chorizo, chimichurri sauce and our house specialty “Baby Beef” and “The Brick” Filet. Pampas has an extensive wine list featuring the finest wines from Argentina and South America. Come and enjoy the Pampas experience at our bar, main dining room, or luxurious private dining rooms.
Grapes and Beans is quaint little restaurant, wine and coffee shop nestled in the North Georgia mountain town of Clayton, the heart of Rabun County. We serve lunch daily, eat-in or carry-out, and use local and organic ingredients whenever possible. Our menu includes fresh soups, salads, several entrees for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike and wholesome homemade treats. Along with fresh local produce, we serve Springer Mountain natural and hormone-free chicken.
Woodfire Grill indulges Atlantans with seasonally influenced, ingredient-focused cuisine. The menu changes daily and features fresh organic ingredients. Executive Chef Kevin Gillespie incorporates the seasonal offerings of small local farms and purveyors as well as organic beef, lamb, pork, poultry and seafood for simply prepared cuisine. Foods are fire-roasted and grilled with a menu comprised of tastes, small plates, main courses and platters for sharing. Since opening in 2002, Woodfire Grill has been honored by critics in numerous reviews, by both local and national press. With so many restaurants doing excellent work, the staff at Woodfire Grill is especially proud to have been the focus of such acclaim by such publications as Food and Wine, Gourmet and Wine Spectator. We invite you to come experience the delicious offerings at Woodfire Grill. Since our menu changes daily, our past customers will experience a new collection of seasonal dishes with every visit.
Reminiscent of a day and time when the pace was much slower, and nearby Powers Ferry Road was little more than a dusty horse trail, Horseradish Grill - Atlanta’s oldest continuously operating restaurant is a dining experience offering guests a glimpse of yesteryear. The cuisine of the American South is the oldest and most completely developed of all regional American cuisines. It is a culinary tradition based on seasonal freshness, ethnic diversity, and simply prepared, highly flavorful food. At Horseradish Grill, we embrace the philosophy that there is an immediacy to good food and cooking: that there is value in understanding the connection between a region, its history and its people, the seasons and natural rhythm of life and the benefits other than nutritional, to be reaped in the celebration of breaking bread.
