Buford’s Brownies

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

bufordkingrgb172.jpgOver the past 15 years, Columbus native Buford King (pictured at right) has perfected his truly decadent culinary delights. The Buford Brownie creation process begins totally from scratch in his Columbus, Georgia kitchen. He uses only the finest ingredients available including Ghirardelli chocolate cocoa and chocolate chips, fresh eggs, real creamy butter, the best flour and fine grain sugar. This combination of high-quality ingredients and Buford’s special touch produces a truly amazing indulgence. Buford’s Brownies are unlike any chocolate creation you have even experienced. One taste and you’ll agree that Buford’s Brownies are “Sinful and Addictive.”

A BUFORD BROWNIE FOR EVERY TASTE

  • The Original Buford’s Original Brownie is the most popular brownie, and contains Ghirardelli chocolate. This gourmet chocolate delight is sumptuously fudge-like inside, with more of a cake crust and edge, totally delicious and totally decadent.
  • Buford’s Pecan Brownie Take the original brownie and ad fresh pecans from Georgia, home grown and shelled, and you have a delightfully divine delicacy from the heart of pecan country. Pecan Brownies are loaded with nuts, sure to please the most discriminating plates of nut lovers everywhere.
  • Buford’s Peanut Butter Brownie Who doesn’t like peanut butter? This brownie is one of Buford’s most delicious creations, and combines the original brownie with marvelously creamy peanut butter chips. This is a combination hard to resist, so why should you?

BUFORD’S CHEESE STRAWS
Buford’s Cheese Straws are the old-fashioned kind that no one makes any longer, hand mixed and formed, and loaded with cheddar cheese. This delicious Southern delicacy is a staple for cocktail parties, buffets, really any gracious entertaining, and ours are absolutely wonderful. Impress your guests and save some for yourself

daphne-house-logo.jpgWelcome to Daphne Lodge, a family business since 1952. Daphne’s first fame was at the turn of the century as a dance pavilion. This elegant open air structure was located just inside the confines of the present-day Veterans Memorial State Park. The railroad had a hand in setting up the pavilion and ran excursions out to it from Cordele. People would pack a picnic basket, dress up in their Sunday whites, and go to Daphne for the whole day. Daphne Lodge enjoys the fruit of many years of successful service. We’ve appeared in Southern Living as one of the top ten restaurants serving catfish and have been featured on the cover of their Sea and Stream cookbook.

  • First of all, Daphne Lodge is near Lake Blackshear and nestled up against some of those beautiful south Georgia pine trees. Second, they serve catfish, which any self-respecting Southern restaurant does. Third, they give you a lot to eat, which would make your mama proud. Mark Johnson, Restaurant Editor, Brown’s Guides.
  • Our first visit to Daphne Lodge will definitely not be our last. The place is inviting from the outside with a charming interior. Our waitress was a delight. We didn’t quite know what to expect from their menu, but what a nice surprise! The food was excellent. SouthGeorgiaDawg4 on Trip Adviser 6/2009.
  • We had quail, shrimp, grouper and blue cheese chips to die for … the salad was perfect , the dressing even more perfect. sharondebdeankatger on Boorah 2/2008.
