Paddle the Kansas River, the world’s largest prairie-based river system

The Kaw, otherwise known as the Kansas River, begins at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers near Junction City, Kansas, and is the world’s largest prairie-based river system. Friends of the Kaw provide educational canoe and kayak float trips in an effort to protect and preserve the Kansas River, a valuable source of drinking water and vital habitat for plants and animals. Guided float trips for 16 to 24 paddlers run from April to mid-October. KAW paddle trips are at least one hour long.
