Atlanta Rocks, Indeed!
For someone who has never gone rock climbing before, I was in for a real treat with this assignment. I was going to shoot a “how-to” video on rock climbing at “Atlanta Rocks”, the largest rock climbing gym in the southeast. Having known so very little about rock climbing, this “how-to” was as much for myself as it was for those watching the video on Brown’s Guide. My contact person was David, who manages the intown location. He introduced me to the “video talent”, Brittany, Jack, and Annie. All three are instructors at the gym and impressive rock climbers and were so helpful and very fun to work with.
The concept of the belayer (the climber’s assistant) was interesting to me.
The person climbing the rock wall could weigh much more than the belayer, yet the belayer is able to keep the climber up on the wall without falling and getting injured. Annie was able to keep Jack up on the wall even though he weighs much more than she does.
Now that I’ve been introduced to rock climbing, it’s time for me to go back and take the short introductory class. I want my turn on that wall!
